The Indy 500 is the Greatest Spectacle in Racing for many reasons. The race is fast and dangerous. It combines modern technology with down home tradition. Artist JD Bills wanted to highlight the iconic imagery and color displayed on race day. His painting is a collage of the race cars, the Borg-Warner trophy, and the Wing and Wheel. He also pays homage to the city of Indianapolis with the Soldiers and Sailors monument and skyline. The vibrant colors mimic the many colors of race cars flying by at over 200 miles per hour.
JD Bills is an artist based in Indianapolis, Indiana. Known for his colorful and dynamic imagery, he captures the imagination of adults and children alike with his murals, paintings, and illustrations. In addition to being available for residential and commercial murals, his work is available online and through local retailers. Bills is a graduate of the Herron School of Art & Design in Indianapolis, Indiana.
